Random Bits

Well, now that the election is over I have to go back to actually thinking about things to blog. Let’s see…

Um…

Well, okay, here’s a few random things:

It still hasn’t snowed yet. It’s been cold enough to snow, now and then, but it has neither rained nor snowed since my last weather-related posting.

I just started reading Barry Blesser’s book about aural achitecture. I’m only a chapter into it but it seems pretty good so far. It crossed my mind that I haven’t read much of anything for awhile, so I’m trying to get myself to sit down and read every day in an attempt to not look like an inept vice-presidential candidate.

The big news sites (e.g. CNN) have mentioned that today is the 70th anniversary of “Kristallnacht”, the event that essentially marks the beginning of the Holocaust, but they don’t seem to be mentioning that it’s also the 19th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Are we going to get better oranges this winter, since California’s fruit crops faired better this year than they did last year?

If you’re an electronics hobbyist and you don’t already know about BatchPCB, you should. I’ve done a lot of shopping around for PCB fabrication services and they seem to be the cheapest and easiest to deal with for having one or two boards fabricated, assuming that you’re not in a hurry. They operate by accumulating a bunch of orders, putting them all on one big layout, having that one board fabricated, and then splitting it up into the original boards. The turnaround time is measured in weeks, but they’re only $2.50/square inch + $10s/h. (No, they didn’t pay me to say this.)

Go ahead, try to summarize yourself in a sentence or two.
