Announcing DubStation 1.5

Sorry that my blogging has been sparse lately. It seems like it’s been an oddly busy time here, both in good ways and in bad ways. There hasn’t been anything really noteworthy (or rather blogworthy) going on but for awhile we were plagued by small but annoying mishaps, distractions, and stupidities.

However, today I have something most definitely worth mentioning: Audio Damage just released a major update to DubStation. One of our oldest and most popular plug-ins, DubStation models vintage analog delay processors and excels at creating spacey, lo-fi echo effects. This update gives the user interface a fresh, new look, adds a second control to the filtering, and cleans up a couple of minor problems. It’s available free to registered users; its price for new customers remains $39.

On a personal note, I have to say that I’m terribly proud of this plug-in. It’s got a sonic personality that is far more interesting and pleasing than most software delays. I’m something of a delay nut and DubStation surprises even me sometimes when I drop it into a track–it Just Sounds Really Good.

Go ahead, try to summarize yourself in a sentence or two.

  1. Dubstation has always sounded amazing. Thanks for making me not need to spend tons of money on analog delays.

I love your blog background. It reminds me of the original Wavestation ads (or the ocean at night, but I was trying to stay on-topic).

  2. And thank you for your kind words. Dubstation kept me from buying the UAD-1 emulation of the Roland Space Echo. It’s not that they sound very much the same, but they’re sort of in the same neck of the woods and I didn’t think that the UAD-1 plug-in sounded so much better than Dubstation that I needed to spend the money on it.

Dubstation has also made me consider selling the one analog delay I have, a Blacet Time Machine. It is kind of handy to have a delay right in my modular, but I don’t find myself using it that often.

‘Fraid I can’t take credit for the blog background, or for the overall layout. It’s a WordPress theme I found somewhere online. I’d actually like to replace it; I have it in mind to make a new background from the image that Chris used for the Ricochet magazine ad.
